"Diagnosis is treatment, and treatment is diagnosis"
Daoist Medicine is a therapeutic approach to health and wellbeing, that places the living body and the individuals experience of it first and foremost. Originating from China with a very long history, it does not resemble the modern and more common Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
At its heart Daoist Medicine is about observing natural patterns, finding relationships, understanding cause and effect, and working to restore the system to harmony. Doing so maintains health, treats illness, and addresses pain and psycho-emotional stress.
Our sessions are hands-on body treatments that make use of comprehensive modalities such as acupuncture, energy-bodywork, herbal medicine, health exercises, diet, and lifestyle advice.
Although beneficial for many conditions, the method does not directly treat symptoms. It is all about achieving balance. The method focuses upon deep neurological and energetic balance for homeostasis. Many conditions can result from disturbance of homeostasis, a condition known as homeostatic imbalance. An unstable internal environment can increase the risk for illness, or prevent healing. Unresolved stress and trauma that has not been discharged from the nervous system is a major factor in both preventing healing and causing dis-ease.
Ideally homeostatic control mechanisms prevent such imbalances from occurring, but, sometimes, they aren’t efficient enough. Daoist medicine helps the body to find balance and heal itself, the most common application is in relieving psycho-emotional stress and trauma, as well as physical pain and discomfort.
